Norda Privacy Policy

Effective: July 14, 2026

Norda is a travel-discovery app made by beeazy. It works with nothing from you — everything below about the cloud is opt-in, off by default, and easy to turn off again.

The short version

Out of the box, Norda collects nothing about you. The globe, all bundled destinations, and every bundled photo ship inside the app and work fully offline. The only network requests a fresh install makes are for weather and editorial content — neither carries any data about you (see “Weather and fresh content”).

If — and only if — you turn on Norda Cloud (to back up your own photo memories) or publish a memory to the public feed, some data leaves your device. That part is explained below.

Weather and fresh content

  • Weather comes from Open-Meteo, a weather service. When you open a destination, Norda requests the forecast for that destination’s published coordinates — a place on our map, never your location. The request carries no account, no identifier, and no personal data. Like any internet request it technically reveals your IP address to the service; Norda sends nothing else.
  • Fresh editorial content (new destinations and photos) is fetched at app start with an anonymous version check against Norda’s own backend. No user data is sent or created — it is a download, like loading a web page.

Both work without any account and stop mattering the moment you’re offline — everything already downloaded keeps working.

What stays on your device, always

  • Onboarding preferences — the vibes you pick and your travel-style slider.
  • Bookmarks and lists, unless you turn on Norda Cloud (see below).
  • Your rough location, if you allow it. Norda asks once, uses a single coarse fix to start the globe near you, and that coordinate never leaves your phone. Norda does not store or transmit your location.
  • Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. Norda uses no push service and holds no push token — there is no server that could message you.

Deleting the app deletes all of the above.

What leaves your device — only if you opt in

Norda Cloud is off by default. No account is created and no personal data is sent until you enable Cloud Backup or publish a memory. When you do, Norda creates an account for you and the following is stored on our backend (Supabase — see Third parties):

When you enable Cloud Backup (private):

  • An anonymous account identifier. It contains no name or email.
  • Your photo/video memories and their captions, the place each is pinned to, when it was taken, and image dimensions — stored in a private area only you can read.
  • Your bookmarks and lists, if collection sync is on (it can be turned off).

If you link a Google account (optional, to keep your memories if you change phones; Apple sign-in will be offered when Norda reaches iOS, and this policy will be updated then):

  • Your email address and name from that sign-in, used only to identify your account. We never sell or share it and never use it for advertising.

When you publish a memory to the public feed:

  • A public handle (and optional display name) you choose.
  • The photo, caption, and place become visible to other Norda users. You can unshare a memory at any time and it returns to private immediately.
  • If you report or block another traveller, we store that so moderation and blocking work.

We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we never sell your data.

Third parties

Norda’s cloud features are hosted on Supabase (servers in Frankfurt, EU), which processes and stores the opt-in data above on our behalf. Open-Meteo serves weather forecasts for destinations (see above) and receives no user data. No other third party receives your data. When you sign in with Google, Google handles the sign-in and gives Norda your email and name.

Your control

  • Turn Norda Cloud off at any time in About → Norda Cloud.
  • Unshare any published memory instantly — it returns to private.
  • Delete your cloud data and your account, completely, in-app under About → Norda Cloud. This removes your stored memories, profile, and account from our backend.

Children

Norda is not directed at children. If you do not use Norda Cloud, no data is collected from anyone. Public sharing is intended for adults; please do not publish photos of children who aren’t yours to share.

Changes

If a future version of Norda changes any of the above, this policy will be updated and the change will be called out in the app’s release notes before it applies.
